Ruapehu-Tongariro

In the middle of the North Island of New Zealand is a wonderful active volcanic region.  The landscape is incredibly diverse.  Raw and rugged at the upper altitudes, all rocks and lava and lichen struggling to survive in the harsh windy conditions.  A little further down the mountains is the tussock and then there’s the bush.  Beautiful.
